Nene Lacemakers is a thriving and friendly group which meets twice a month in Northampton. We have an increasing membership, drawn from the town, county and beyond and welcome visitors and new members. Many of our members are long-established lacemakers but we are always keen to encourage those with less experience and also complete beginners, including young people. Our members include makers of English and continental bobbin lace, needle lace enthusiasts, tatters and,of course, we all appreciate a wide range of other needle crafts.
Northamptonshire is one of the three traditional East Midlands bobbin lacemaking counties, the others being Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire and our members are enthusiastic about our lace heritage, working with local organizations to promote knowledge of our craft. Whenever possible, we demonstrate at local events in order to introduce lacemaking to a wide range of people and encourage people to join us. If you are interested in coming to one of our meetings, you will be made very welcome but we encourage you to contact our Secretary in advance. Athene. |
